Local radio personality Danny Bonaduce says he wasnt aware of fixed fights in celebrity boxing – and he will fight anyone who says so.
Bonaduce spoke with Fox 29s Jenn Frederick just moments after Pennsylvania attorney general Tom Corbett indicted boxing promoter Damon Feldman for allegedly fixing fights that featured celebrities on the boxing card.
On a personal level, I say I am completely offended, Bonaduce said, who said he fought four times for Feldman and three of his opponents went to the hospital. When you accuse a guy of rigging a fight, and I’m a participant in that fight, you accuse me, Bonaduce said.
Feldman talked to Fox 29s Frederick and that his fights are entertainment like the WWE. He told Frederick there is always a presumed winner and sometimes he picks the winner.
Thats new, Bonaduce said. That isnt what he ever did when I was involved. According to Corbett, the alleged fight fixing – with Feldman determining the outcomes of fights in advance – happened at six boxing cards in the Philadelphia area in 2008 and 2009.
In the second paragraph of the indictment, Corbett says the complaint arose after a fight card starring Bonaduce and a Howard Stern show regular drew complaints to his office. On September 2008, Bonaduce fought Reverend Bob Levy, and in January 2009, Bonaduce fought Jose Canseco in Aston, Pa.
Bonaduce says with him, people got knocked out and thats what happened. But he said he didnt have knowledge of Feldman’s activities.
This is all supposition on my part. I dont know what Damon Feldman does,he said. I would assume its post my fights. You find someone who says I was and Ill fight them, and when they get out of the hospital, see if they still say it, Bonaduce said.
Other fights that Corbett mentioned included celebrities Michael Lohan and Rodney King.
Lohan told Fox 29 on Friday, I am not aware of any of the fights I was involved in being fixed.
