Presented by GB Records, Inc.
The worst oil spill in U.S. history is continuing to cause devastation to the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and its coastal shoreline. Millions of gallons of crude oil have been pouring out into the ocean, killing wildlife and causing extreme damage to the coastline, beaches and marshes. The effects this will have on the economy and environment may take decades to recover from.
In the midst of this disaster and accusations being thrown back and forth between oil companies, politicians and the people, Los Angeles-based independent record company GB Records have decided to step forth and do what they can do to help relief efforts. From August 26 – September 12, 2010, they are putting on a series of benefit concerts in New Orleans, LA, Houston, TX, Biloxi, MS, Mobile, AL, and Hollywood, FL, all proceeds donated to charity organizations dedicated to the cause, such as The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana. Participating venues where the concerts will be held include The House of Blues and Hard Rock Cafe, and confirmed dates, places and set times will be announced shortly.
So far, the event has received support and donations from American pop culture icon and former member of The Monkees, Micky Dolenz, through his outreach with his “My Records Fantasy”-project. Confirmed performers include renowned actress and folk singer Shay Astar, (“3rd Rock From the Sun”, “Star Trek: The Next Generation”) and chart-topping Los Angeles rock’n’roll band The McGrath Project. Appearing as the master of ceremonies will be actor Patrick Gallagher, a k a Ken Tanaka from # 1-rated TV-series “Glee”. Other participating celebrities and artists include none other than actor and reality TV-star Danny Bonaduce (“The Partridge Family”, “Breaking Bonaduce”), and virtuoso guitarist John Jorgenson (The Hellecasters, Elton John). The complete lineup of artists and speakers will be confirmed in the weeks to come.
Corporate sponsors are rapidly being added to the list of contributors to help put on this event, including Marriott and Renaissance Hotels, Tradition Guitars, RadioBuzzd and Daisy Rock Guitars. GB Records CEO Gary Bryant says: “Let’s all put politics, egos and pride aside and do what’s needed for the nation. We welcome donations, auction items, press coverage, anything that can spread the word, support the cause and hopefully encourage others to follow suit. With enough support, we can make a real difference.”
Tickets for “GB Records presents: Concerts For the Gulf” will be available for purchase online by late July. More information about The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana can be found at www.crcl.org. Questions or comments about the events can be directed to gbrecordsinc@yahoo.com.
